Πού ήσουν όταν σε χρειαζόμουνα,

THE BEGGAR WOMAN

As you were leaving you said "all finished"
and those two words of yours finished me off,
but when you found yourself in love's thin times
like a beggar woman you returned near me.

Why are you begging now for my caresses?
You don’t fill my empty nights,
my heart has got untold griefs,
but to you it has nothing to give.

Where were you when I needed you,
when I was getting drunk remembering you,
when our dreams were dying
and the clock hands were not waiting.
